JOHN DAY – This week, Malheur National Forest began Recovery-funded road maintenance projects on several forest roads.

Contractors will chip seal Forest Road 13 from County Road 62 to the base of Deardorff Mountain, and Forest Road 21 from U.S. Highway 26 to Murderers Creek.

Work will also begin on Forest Road 15, with chip sealing starting from the end of County Road 65 to the junction with Forest Road 16. Contractors will also chip seal Forest Road 37, on the Emigrant District, from the Forest Road 47 intersection to the Forest Road 3745 intersection.

To ensure the safety of forest visitors, as well as the road contractors, drivers are urged to proceed slowly and with caution. There will be some temporary delays or closures implemented.

The start and finish dates are tentative and are subject to change.
