Jack S. Forrest, 81, of Monument, died Sept. 14, 2010, at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Hermiston.
A remembrance of his life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, at the Monument Senior Center. A private interment will be held by the family.
Mr. Forrest was born July 30, 1929, in Monument, to Lynn and Irene Hartman Forrest.
In 1947, he graduated from Monument High School. He drove logging trucks until he enlisted in the U.S. Army in January 1951.
He served in the Korean Conflict and after his honorable discharge returned to Monument.
In March 1953, he married Darlene Jean Capon in Roseburg. They raised five children on the family ranch in Monument.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and most evenings, playing solitaire at the kitchen table.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene, of Monument; children, Teresa (Jonathan) Bogle of Quincy, Wash., Stanley (Kathy) Forrest of Lonerock, Tamera Forrest of Madras, Joseph (Karen) Forrest of Dufur and Donald (Doreen) Forrest of Prineville; sister, Elaine Rohse of McMinnville; nine grandchildren, Jeremy (Altaira) Bogle, Amanda Bogle, Luke Forrest, Riley Forrest, Cody Smith, Brandi Smith, Toni Forrest, C.J. Forrest and Shelby Forrest; and two great-grandchildren, Jayven Bogle and Emmett Bogle.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lillian Strandenberg and Patricia Mann.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Monument FFA Chapter.
