Obituaries: Marvin William McDougal

YAKIMA, Wash. – Marvin William McDougal, 60, died Oct. 1, 2010, in Yakima, Wash. A funeral service was held Oct. 9 at Driskill Memorial Chapel, with interment at Prairie City.

Mr. McDougal was born Feb. 14, 1950, in Eugene, to Clarence and Ruth (Glacier) McDougal. He graduated from high school in 1968.

From 1968-1970, he served in the U.S. Army on Operation Whitecoat. He received an honorary medal of service as well as his private pilot license while in the Army. He worked in the timber industry his whole life, owning several businesses and working with his brother.

In May 1971, he married Deborah DeLamater, with whom he had four children, Jackie, Matt, Mike and Cheree.

On May 25, 2008, he married Fredda Ernest in Portland.

He enjoyed snowmobiling, motorcycles, boating, flying, his grandchildren, movies and electronics. He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Yakima.

He took courses in business, computers, forestry, milling, real estate and related investment opportunities, multi-engine, commercial, and instrument flight ratings.

As a consultant in exploring the gold bullion business, he traveled to Australia, Hong Kong and other parts of China.

Survivors include his wife, Fredda McDougal of Yakima; daughters, Jackie of Portland and Cheree, who is stationed in Germany with the Army; sons, Matt of Yakima and Mike, also stationed in Germany with the Army; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a grandson, Maxwell McDougal.
