Barbara Kent Damon

Barbara Kent Damon, 75, formerly of Grant County, died March 6, 2011, at her home in South Beach. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, March 19, at the Newport Elks Lodge in Newport.

Mrs. Damon was born Aug. 19, 1935, in Winfield, Kan., to Clarice and Roscoe Kent.

She worked as a real estate broker and hairdresser, and was a Grant County resident for over 20 years.

Survivors include her daughter, Denise Helmhout of South Beach; sons, Kyle Helmhout and wife, Suzan Mascal-Helmhout of Coeur dAlene, Idaho, and Sean Helmhout of Patterson, Wash.; granddaughters, Mindy (Ray) Ross of Kennewick, Wash., Jessi (Adam) Dretke of Hayden, Idaho, Laci Helmhout of Portland and Heather (Kyle) Ahlf of Portland; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by an infant son.
