Justice Court
CANYON CITY The Grant County Justice Court reported the following fines and judgments:
For violation of the basic rule: Brianna Larsen, Eugene, 50/30 zone, fined $155; Catherine Ann Hendricks, Bend, 71/55 zone, fined $190; Kathie Horrace-Voigt, Colorado City, Colo., 76/55 zone, fined $287; Chelsey Grazer, John Day, 87/55 zone, fined $365.
Permitting unlawful use of vehicle: Darby Scott, John Day, fined $287.
Unsafe passing: Miranda Moon, Hines, fined $287.
Motor vehicle in managment area: Alan Frost, Sublimity, fined $210; William Lackey, Sublimity, fined $210; Brian Moll, Stayton, fined $210.
Failure to validate turkey tag: Cecil Harrison, fined $195.
Exceeding maximum height: Ronald Huffman, Riverton, Utah, fined $142.
Jeremy Dean Barnett, Dallas, was convicted of second-degree theft, sentenced to bench probation for 12 months, fined $400, plus $200 in restitution, and ordered to write a letter of apology to the victim.
Circuit Court
CANYON CITY The Grant County Circuit Court reported the following fines and judgments:
Pauline Elizabeth Hines, 41, was convicted of refusing to take a test for intoxicants, and fined $648. One count for driving under the influence of intoxicants was diverted and one for recklessly endangering another person was dismissed.
Ethan Taylor Thomas, 20, was convicted of DUII, sentenced to jail for 48 hours and bench probation for 18 months, and fined $1,886. His drivers license was suspended for one year. On one count for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, he was fined $648. Counts for violating a speed limit and failing to obey traffic control device were dismissed.
Ivy Ray McDaniel, 47, was convicted of DUII, sentenced to jail for 96 hours, bench probation for 18 months, and fined $1,728. His drivers license was suspended for one year. On one count of violation of the open container law in a motor vehicle, he was fined $287.
Vincent T. Tirico, 19, was convicted of possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, and fined $1,103. His drivers license was suspended for 90 days. On one count of person under 21 attempting to purchase alcohol, he was fined $317, and his drivers license was suspended for one year.
Oregon State Police
At about 9:45 a.m., Tuesday, May 3, Oregon State Police responded to a single vehicle crash on Highway 26 near Dog Creek Road. As the vehicle drifted over the fog line onto the gravel shoulder, the driver overcorrected, striking a marker and coming to rest in the shoulder. The driver, Stuart Mosier, 18, of John Day, was not injured.
Police took took Christina Noreen Nelson, 35, of John Day, into custody about 9:20 p.m. Tusday, May 3, for interfering with a 911 call.
At about 12:45 a.m., Thursday, May 5, OSP assisted John Day Police with a report of a woman trying to get into a trailer at Riverside Mobile Home Park. Jessica Olson, 37, of John Day, was taken into custody for menacing and disorderly conduct, and lodged in Grant County Jail.
At 12:08 p.m. Saturday, May 7, OSP and JD Police investigated a reported theft of prescription medication at Riverside Mobile Home Park. David Wayne Kreger, 18, and Sarah F. DeRosier, 22, were arrested for unlawful possession of a controlled substance and theft. Most of the medication was returned to the owner.
Saturday, May 7, troopers arrested Cecil P. Harrison, 57, of Long Creek, at County Roads 83 and 18, on charges of DUII-controlled substance and hunting from a public roadway. He was lodged in Grant County Jail.
Grant County Sheriff
Larry Bessey, 48, Baker City, was cited for violation of the basic rule (74/55 zone).
Justin Combs, 21, John Day, was cited for failure to carry proof of insurance and failure to renew registration.
Adam Gilliam, 19, John Day, was cited for driving while suspended.
Robin Anderson, 50, Clatskanie, was cited for violation of the basic rule (74/55 zone).

May 4: Responded to hit-and-run reports at Grant County Ford and Lens Drug.
May 8: Cited a man from The Dalles for illegal alteration of a temporary plate

May 2: Trespassing report on Indian Creek Road; responded to an assault report at Grant Union High School;
May 6: Criminal mischief report at GUHS.
May 7: Responded to a harassment report in Mt. Vernon; cited a Corvallis person for speeding; cited a Coos Bay man for speeding.
John Day ambulance:
May 2: Transported a 58-year-old motorcycle accident victim from Middle Fork Lane to Blue Mountain Hospital.
May 6: Responded for a 90-year-old woman who had fallen;
