JOHN DAY – Grant Union High School golfers gained valuable skills on the greens of the John Day Golf Course this spring.

The Prospector boys, going for the first time as a team, placed 12th in state 3A competition.

They placed second at the district competition.

Athlete Chris Gibson placed sixth overall.

Throughout the season, Grant Union girls continued to polish their skills, too, said head coach Ron Lundbom.

With the exception of one returning athlete, said head coach Patch Freeman, Long Creek golfers learned a new sport that they’ll continue to enjoy throughout their lives.

Several of the teams’ athletes can be seen in competition at the April 5 Grant Union Invitational at John Day Golf Course.
