Sixth-graders, with their history teacher Andy Lusco, organized a tribute event for Mt. Vernon Middle School as Grant School District 3 officials prepare to close its doors.

The Mt. Vernon School Community Tribute Dance brought out current students and alumni, young and old. Sixth-graders gave tours of the school, and some alumni left their hand prints on the walls. Various decades were represented in the classrooms. Memorabilia was on display in the rooms, including pictures, yearbooks, trophies as visitors shared a story or two about the good old days at Mt. Vernon School.

Next year, the new sixth-grade class will attend at Humbolt Elementary School and seventh- and eighth-graders will move to the Grant Union Junior Senior High School.
