Ukiah plane crash kills 3

UKIAH Authorities are investigating a plane crash that killed at three people on Sunday, June 12.

The plane, a single-engine Bellanca, crashed in the rugged mountains near Ukiah.

Emergency management officials said it crashed about midnight Saturday after taking off from Dallesport, Wash., bound for Wyoming. A Civil Air Patrol pilot spotted the wreckage about 7 a.m. Sunday.

The victims were identified as Janice Davis, 51, Hermiston; Ned Kayser, 53, Klicitat County, Wash., and the pilot, Gerald Hunter, 74, also of Klicitat County.

Officials from the Federal Aviation Agency (FAA) and National Transportation Safety Board were sent to the scene to investigate, assisted by the Umatilla County Sheriffs Office and U.S. Forest Service.
