    JOHN DAY John Day Police Chief Rich Tirico recently honored Sgt. Richard Gray for earning his supervisory and middle management certificates through the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST).

    Tirico said Gray worked hard to obtain the 90 college credits and 160 training hours required for the certificates, completing the studies in a timely manner and with the support of his wife and family.

    Sgt. Gray has proven to be a tremendous asset to the John Day Police Department, Tirico said.

    Gray began his law enforcement career in 1995 and has worked for the John Day department since 2004.
