Arrests and citations in the Blue Mountain Eagle are taken from the logs of area law-enforcement agencies. Every effort is made to report the court disposition of all arrests listed.
Justice Court
CANYON CITY – The Grant County Justice Court reported the following fines and judgments:
Violation of the basic rule: Geri Crawford, Terrebonne, 73/55 zone, fined $110; Charles Cannon, Prairie City, 75/55 zone, fined $287; Stephanie Parsons, John Day, 75/55 zone, fined $155; Daniel McMillan, McMinnville, 75/55 zone, fined $155; Rossy O’Sullivan, Burns, 75/55 zone, fined $155; Clint Loveday, Redmond, 76/55 zone, fined $287; Corey Hock, Burns, 77/55 zone, fined $235; Jack Dauchy, Yuma, Ariz., 80/55 zone, fined $287; Emily B. Violation of the speed law: William Barnell, Kelso, Wash., 45/25 zone, fined $155.

Dog as a nuisance: Cindy Dougharity, Canyon City, fined $100, to be suspended pending no further convictions for six months.
Violation of posted road closure: Benjamin Betts, Eagle Creek, fined $299; Anthony Clements, Eagle Creek, Fined $299.
Daniel E. James, of Adrian, was convicted of minor in possession of alcohol, fined $500, and his driver’s license was suspended for a year.
Robert Moreland, of Canyon City, was found guilty as a violation, of throwing burning material from a moving vehicle, and fined $250.
Circuit Court
CANYON CITY – The Grant County Circuit Court reported the following fines and judgments:
Jacob Michael Derosier, 24, was convicted of harassment, and sentenced to bench probation for 12 months, 60 hours of community service, and fined $668. One count of fourth-degree assault was dismissed.
Robert R. Butler, 40, was convicted of possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, and fined $648. One count of driving under the influence of intoxicants was diverted and one for violation of the open container law was dismissed.
Andrew Murdoch Johnson, 33, was convicted of delivery of marijuana to a minor, and sentenced to jail for seven months, post-prison supervision of two years, fined $107, and ordered to have no contact with the victim(s). His driver’s license was suspended for six months. On two counts of endangering the welfare of a minor, he was sentenced to supervised probation for 30 months for each count, no contact with the victim, and fined $1,318 and $1,168. Four counts of unlawful delivery of marijuana to a minor, five for unlawful delivery of marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school, and two for endangering the welfare of a minor were dismissed.
Oregon State Police
At 6:17 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, Oregon State Police stopped a pickup on Highway 395 in Canyon City, for speeding and failing to drive within the lane. The driver, Kevin L. Brophy, 50, of Trail, was cited for open container of alcohol and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana. The passenger, Justin D. Hannaford, 32, of Grants Pass, was cited for open container of alcohol.
At about 11 p.m. Sunday, July 31, OSP stopped a driver for weaving within his lane and failing to drive right. Mitchel Dawain Long, 40, of John Day, was arrested for DUII and taken to Grant County Jail.

John Day dispatch worked 192 calls during the week of July 25-31. Along with the various traffic warnings, trespassing, injured animals, noise complaints and juvenile complaints, these calls included:

July 25: Arrested a John Day woman for felony possession of a weapon; theft report from the West Shell station; arrested a Woodland, Calif., woman on a Grant County warrant.
July 26: Report of shots fired at the Elkhorn.
July 27: A John Day woman was arrested for driving under the influence of intoxicants.
July 28: Responded to a report of menacing at Bare Bones.
July 30: Reported fight on East Main Street in John Day.
July 31: Arrested a Canyon City man for disorderly conduct and contempt of court, and cited for minor in possession.
Grant County Sheriff:
July 27: Theft report at Bates.
July 28: Cited a John Day woman for speeding on Highway 26 in Mt. Vernon.
July 29: Arrested a John Day man on a Grant County warrant.
July 30: Trespassing report on West Bench Road; criminal mischief report at Long Creek School.
July 31: Trespassing report on Five Spring Ranch.
John Day ambulance:
July 26: Responded for a 73-year-old woman.
July 29: Responded for a man who had fallen at the fairgrounds.
