PRAIRIE CITY – Need a fresh look somewhere in your home or business?
Sheila Hoberg, artist and home improvement fan, can lend a helping brush or sander with her new business, Rainbow Paints and Countertops.
Among the services Hoberg offers are house painting, signs, murals, wall and floor tiling, and decorative concrete resurfacing of floors and countertops.
Hoberg, who also teaches art and Spanish at Prairie City High School, said home improvement has been a lifelong hobby.
“I’ve replaced sub-flooring, torn down and built walls, and painted more times than I can count,” Hoberg said.
She added that she’s more at home shopping for hardware than groceries.
It was while searching for a way to resurface the countertop in their home that she said she discovered decorative concrete.
“I found a method resulting in a beautiful, durable product that looks like marble or granite,” Hoberg said.
“I felt I had found something other people would want and decided to start my own business,” she added.
Hoberg studied art at Dodge City Community College in Kansas and finished her degree at Manchester College in Indiana. She’s taught art for 11 years, and has created murals, signs and drawings for others over the years.
Hoberg also has a passion for fitness and exercise; she has a bachelor’s degree in physical education and a master’s in exercise physiology from Fort Hayes State University in Kansas.
Hoberg operates her business out of her Prairie City home. For a free estimate, call 541-820-3656 and leave a detailed message. Hoberg returns calls between 3 and 6 p.m. Monday-Friday.
