FRUITLAND, Idaho – LaWanda Edith Bowen, 70, formerly of Grant County, died July 4, 2011, at her home. Private graveside services were held at Park View Cemetery in New Plymouth, Idaho.

Mrs. Bowen was born Nov. 15, 1940, in Weiser, Idaho, to Lawrence and Edith (Horne) Fochtman. In 1946, they moved to Prineville, where she attended school.

On Nov. 98, 1968, she married the love of her life, Coy Bowen.

The couple lived in Grant County from around 1976 to the early 1990s. Her husband worked for San Juan Lumber Company, and she worked as a cook at what is now Country Spice. She also worked at Benson Shoe store for several years and did house cleaning for Enola Benson. Three of their children, Deneise, Darla and Debra, graduated from Grant Union High School.

After raising their children, they moved to Fruitland, Idaho, to be close to her mother.

She was very artistic and loved to paint, to crafts, sew, read and, most of all, she had a great passion for working in her flower gardens where she grew beautiful, fragrant roses. Most of all, she was a loving mother and wife.
