Ethel Rose McFadden, 100, of Prairie City, died Aug. 3, 2011, at Blue Mountain Nursing Home. A graveside service was held Aug. 6 at West Branch Cemetery in Mitchell.

Mrs. McFadden was born Feb. 7, 1911, in Agency Plains, to Alfred and Ruby (Campbell) Parkey. In her early years, she enjoyed boxing and riding race horses. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing, walking the high school track and rock hounding.

Survivors include her son, Bill (Emily) Williams of Mitchell; daughters, Sherrie (Larry) Osborne and Donna (John) Foster, both of Mt. Vernon; foster son, Don Brown of Brothers; sisters, Mary Johnson of Redmond, Fernette McDowell of Silver Lake and Frances Mogus of Boise, Idaho; seven grandsons; six granddaughters; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Roy Williams; second husband, Lyle McFadden; two brothers; two sisters; one son; one daughter; and two grandsons.
