CANYON CITY – A 12-person jury last week found a Prineville man guilty of arson and theft charges stemming from the Good Deals trailer fire and other incidents more than a year ago in John Day.
In a two-day trial in Grant County Circuit Court, Anthony Stephen Reed, 55, was found guilty of second-degree arson, first-degree theft and first-degree criminal mischief for the fiery break-in at the Good Deals trailer on Main Street on April 18, 2010. He also was found guilty of first-degree theft, third-degree theft and reckless burning related to other victims.
He was found not guilty on separate charges of second-degree burglary, unlawful entry into a vehicle and second-degree criminal mischief.
Sentencing has not yet been set.
Reed was the second man convicted in the case. Last December, a jury convicted Daniel J. Webb, 42, also of Prineville, of first-degree theft and second-degree burglary, as well as theft and unlawful entry of a motor vehicle.
Both men were arrested in September 2010 after an investigation by John Day Police.
