State transporation panel meets in John Day

JOHN DAY – The Oregon Transportation Commission will be in John Day Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 17-18, for discussions and a board meeting.

Commission members will meet at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday for an informal discussion on vehicle road use charges in Oregon, followed by a non-business dinner at the Snaffle Bit.

The commission’s regular meeting will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the Grant County Regional Airport in John Day.

The agendy includes a request to approve the 2012 Oregon Traffic Safety Performance Plan and a discussion with the Southeast Area Commissoin on Transportation members. Other topics are county funding and the challenges of low-volume roads.
