Canyon Creek 4-H report

Published 5:00 pm Monday, August 22, 2011

Fair is upon us, and many citizens in our rural community are preparing for it. As for those who take part in 4-H and FFA, there is simply no end to the things to be done. One of the clubs that is getting ready for fair time is Canyon Creek Community Club.

We look forward to seeing you and showing our animals to you. The Canyon Creek Community Club is not just an animal-based club, but has members who take part in the shooting sports, sewing, cooking, photography and much more.

The shotgun contest was held Sunday, Aug. 14, in which some of our members took part. The next shooting contest was held Saturday, Aug. 20, for shotgun. Meetings for livestock and shooting have been held regularly through the summer. Members of the shooting club are Kolton Boethin, L.J. Burke, Ely Carniglia, Soren Larson, and Bo and Dallas Olson.

Another one of the major activities in Canyon Creek Community Club is livestock. Members include Caleb, Jacob and Rebecca Batease, who are showing sheep. Rebecca is also taking part in sewing and cooking. Hadley and Kolton Boethin are showing pigs, and Kolton is also showing a steer. Other members showing swine are Garrett and Ely Carniglia, Bo and Dallas Olson, Soren Larson and Taylor McCluskey.

All members will be taking part in showmansip and market. Group leaders are Jay and Jina Carniglia, Julie and Dennis Reynolds, Hailey Boethin and Cindy Dougharity-Spencer.

We hope to see you at the fair when we show, and we hope you enjoy the rest of your summer. Our auction will be on Saturday, Aug. 27, during fair, where you can bid on one of our fine quality animals.

Dallas Olson is the newswriter for the Canyon Creek Community 4-H Club.
