Arrests and citations in the Blue Mountain Eagle are taken from the logs of area law-enforcement agencies. Every effort is made to report the court disposition of all arrests listed.

Justice Court

CANYON CITY – The Grant County Justice Court reported the following fines and judgments:

Violation of the basic rule: Calvin Ray Johnson Jr., 41, Redmond, 75/55 zone, fined $230; Taylor Lee Geraths, 30, Sisters, 75/55 zone, fined $190.

Not wearing a seat belt: Elizabeth Ann Hunt, 55, Long Creek, fined $110.

Violation of the speed limit: Dylan Grant Brandsma, 18, John Day, 60/45 zone, fined $155.

Exceeding permitted weight limit: James W. McKinley, 50, Prairie City, fined $127.

Exceeding maximum weight limit: Jimmy Durheim, 67, Prineville, fined $127.

Nick Gibson, Prairie City, was convicted of placing offensive substances on a roadway or waterway, and sentenced to 12 months bench probation, 40 hours of community service, and fined $200. One count of littering near a waterway was dismissed.

Andrea Lynne Meyers, Sisters, was convicted of second-degree criminal trespassing, and sentenced to 12 months bench probation, 20 hours community service, and fined $400.

Donald Michael Green, Sisters, was convicted of second-degree criminal trespassing, and sentenced to 12 months bench probation, 20 hours community service (which was converted to a $200 fine), and fined $400.

Christopher R. Conner, Prairie City, was convicted of minor in possession of alcohol, and fined $500. His driver’s license was suspended for 90 days.

Circuit Court

CANYON CITY – The Grant County Circuit Court reported the following fines and judgments:

Wayne Michael Visker, 31, was convicted of third-degree sodomy, and sentenced to prison for 15 months, with post-prison supervision for two years, and fined $642. One count of third-degree sexual abuse was dismissed.

Oregon State Police

At 7:18 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22, near Dixie Summit, Oregon State Police cited Rhys Richard Wilcox Emery, 22, of Garden City, Idaho, was cited for driving while suspended, misdemeanor.

At 7:21 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26, OSP stopped a vehicle on Highway 395 north of Mt. Vernon. The driver, Tommie Joe Horrell, 56, Union, was cited for driving under the influence of intoxicants, open container and driving uninsured, and lodged in Grant County Jail. At about 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, Horrell was charged again with DUII, and violating the “no alcohol” clause of his conditional release agreement, when he pulled into the OSP John Day Outpost office to retrieve his .22 caliber firearm troopers had seized for safekeeping the previous evening. He was also cited for driving uninsured.

On Friday, Aug. 26, troopers cited and released David Ray Bernard, 51, at his Rainier residence, on several charges stemming from the 2010 Murderers Creek rifle bull elk season: two counts of exceeding bull elk bag limit, two counts of wasting bull elk and two counts of tampering with physical evidence.

About 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, OSP stopped a vehicle on Highway 395, south of Fox, and cited the driver, Derick James Bates, 24, of Spokane, Wash., for unlawful possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.

At 10:34 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, OSP stopped a vehicle on Highway 26 at the west end of John Day, and arrested the driver, Charles Andrew Caughlin, 53, John Day, for DUII. He was taken to Grant County Jail.

Grant County Sheriff

Cited for violation of the basic rule: Cynthia Ward, 54, Orland, Calif., 75/55 zone; John Osburn, 29, Monument, 75/55 zone; Timothy Anderson, 37, Kent, 75/55 zone; Adam Gilliam, 19, John Day, 75/55 zone.

Cited for driving while suspended violation: Joshua Archer, 31, Prairie City.

Cited for minor in possession of alcohol: Austin Ranft, 20, John Day.

Aug. 26: Cited a 17-year-old for minor-in-possession; hit-and-run reported at Riverside Mobile Home Park.

Aug. 28: Hit-and-run reported at the fairgrounds; report of a person refusing to leave a South Canyon Blvd. apartment.

Aug. 24: Report of cougars on Mountain Blvd. in Mt. Vernon.

Aug. 25: Cited a Redmond woman for speeding on Highway 26 east of Fields Creek Road.

Aug. 26: Cited a John Day woman for driving while suspended misdemeanor.

Aug. 27: Dispatched a Mt. Vernon cougar in Mt. Vernon; arrested a John Day man on a Deschutes County warrant.

John Day ambulance:

Aug. 22: 88-year-old man who had fallen.

Aug. 24: Woman with low blood pressure; paged to Seneca for a woman with a hip problem.

Aug. 27: Dispatched for a man with a possible stroke.

Aug. 28: Responded for a man with a bee sting on Beech Creek Road.

Prairie City ambulance:

Aug. 27: 24-year-old woman with heart problems.

Prairie City Fire Department:

Aug. 24: Truck fire reported at the Co-Gen plant.

Monument Fire Department:

Aug. 28: Electrical fire on Highway 402.
