LaVerda (Hall) Cox, 88, of Monument, died Feb. 25, at Blue Mountain Nursing Home. A graveside memorial service will be held at 1 p.m Sunday, March 11, at the Monument Cemetery. A community potluck will follow at the Monument Senior Center.
Mrs. Cox was born Oct. 26, 1923, in Dayton, Wash., to Frank and Golda (Hatfield) Hall. She attended school in Dayton and Spray. In May 1942, she married Carl Cox in Heppner. They had three children, Robert (Bob), Lorynn (Lonnie) and Alan. They made their home on the family homestead near Monument.
She enjoyed working with flowers in her yard, being with family, playing pinochle and visiting with friends.
Survivors include her children, Bob (Donna) Cox, Lonnie (Bo) Lawrence and Alan (Norma) Cox, all of Monument; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; two brothers; and a great-grandson, Tyler.
