Robert Lee Heiple

Robert Lee Heiple, 96, died March 20. A service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, at Prairie City Cemetery.
Mr. Heiple was born Oct. 1, 1915, in Clackamas County, where he lived in Currinsville.
In 1940, he marriet Violet, the love of his life, with whom he raised two sons, Daniel and Edward.
He was a builder, farmer, logger, rancher, and collector of antique trucks and tractors. When he turned 60, he moved near John Day to ranch. Well into his 70s and 80s, he built his own antique trucks, steam engines and locomotives.
He had many interests including fishing, hunting, hiking, camping, golfing and bowling. He was honest, generous and hard-working. He had a special knack for humor and storytelling, endearing to those who loved him.
Survivors include his wife, Violet; son, Edward; grandson, Travis; granddaughter, Jamie (Heiple) Frazier; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Daniel; and grandson, Jason.
