Burning planned near Malheur compound in John Day

JOHN DAY – Blue Mountain Ranger District fire crews are scheduled to burn excess grasses and vegetation adjacent to structures at the Malheur National Forest compound on Ford Road in John Day.

Burning could occur anytime from Tuesday, April 10, to June 30, with the exact dates depending on the weather conditions. The agency will send out notice the day of the burning.

Burning may have some short-term impacts on air quality levels, but any burning activity will be done during weather conditions that should minimize impacts of smoke on the local community.
