March temps colder than normal

PENDLETON Temperatures at John Day averaged slightly colder than normal during March, according to preliminary data received by NOAAs National Weather Service in Pendleton.
The average temperature was 39.8 degrees, 1.9 degrees below normal.
High temperatures averaged 51.1 degrees, 3.2 degrees below normal. The highest was 71 degrees on the March 10. Low temperatures averaged 28.5 degrees, 0.6 degrees below normal. The lowest was 15 degrees, on March 7.
There were 21 days with the low temperature below 32 degrees.
Precipitation totaled 1.14 inches during March, which was 0.13 inches below normal. Measurable precipitation at least .01 inch was received on 15 days with the heaviest, 0.33 inches reported on March 16.
Snowfall totaled 1.1 inches. The heaviest snowfall was 0.9 inches reported on March 14. The greatest depth of snow on the ground was nine inches on March 14.
The outlook for April from NOAAs Climate Prediction Center calls for below normal temperatures and above normal precipitation. Normal highs for John Day rise from 57 degrees at the start of April to 64 degrees at the end of April. Normal lows rise from 31 degrees to 36 degrees. The 30-year normal precipitation is 1.39 inches.
