Sylvia Robison Moore

Sylvia Robison Moore, 89, of Dayville, died April 5 at Blue Mountain Nursing Home in Prairie City. A graveside service was held April 14 at the Dayville Cemetery.

Mrs. Moore was born July 25, 1922, in Bow Island, Alberta, Canada, to Lewis Arthur and Nellie (Fawns) Robison. The family settled in Dayville where she met Charles M. Moore, whom she married in Brownwood, Texas, on Nov. 16, 1942.

During World War II, she moved to Seattle, Wash., where she worked in naval ship yards driving supply trucks. After the war, the family moved to Silver City, N.M., where she and her husband attended Western New Mexico University. In 1958, she graduated with a masters degree in home economics education, and started teaching home economics at Snell Junior High School in Bayard, N.M.

She lived in the Bayard area for 60 years, where she taught school, sold homemade solar draperies and metal jewelry, and sold insurance and homeopathic medications. She moved back to Dayville in 2002 to be with her daughters family.

She enjoyed painting, photography, ceramics, cooking, camping, hunting and fishing, music, and writing songs. She was an active member of the Toastmistress Club, and developed and delivered many speeches at various conventions.

Survivors include her son, Ronald Charles Moore of Kerrville, Texas; daughter, Connie Gene Moore of Dayville; brother, Leland Lewis Robison of Mill Creek, Wash.; four grandchildren, Jodi Moore Coleman, Monty Ray Moore, Maci Dee Mascall and Trey Cee Mascall.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene Fawns Robison and Keith Gordon Robison.
