CRANE It was a good day for Dayville High Schools Justin Larson.
At the Crane Ranchers Invitational track meet April 20, Larson took first place in the javelin, with a throw of 179 feet, 6 inches.
Larsons mark was just 1 inch short of his best mark of the season. At Crane last year, he threw 164-9, and continued to gain momentum into districts. He gained the state championship mark with a launch of 192-1.
At Crane, Larson also took second in the discus and 200 meters, and sixth in the 100 meters.
His discus throw was a new personal record.
With Larsons marks combined with his teammates, the Dayville boys placed eighth of 13 teams overall. The girls tied for ninth of 14 schools represented.
Other boys doing well at the meet were Josh Chapman, Jake Buce and Colten Winters.
Chapman took first place in the pole vault. His sixth-place finish in the long jump was a personal record.
Buce was third in the javelin, 10th in the shot put, and 14th in the long jump. All three were personal records.
Winters was 18th in the shot put and 19th in the 100 meters, both personal records.
For the girls, Alix Perkins took second in the pole vault and fourth in the 1,500 meters.
Renee Inscore was third in the javelin and seventh in the 200 meters, both personal records.
The team heads to Condon this Saturday, April 28, for the Bowerman Invitational.
