Letter: Play by rules at burn pile

To the Editor:

This letter concerns the burn pile at Prairie City located behind the Co-Gen plant.

The burn pile was designated as a place for the community to put yard debris, tree limbs and wood material that could be burned clean with not a lot of black smoke and noxious smells. The area was not designated for a place to dump garbage, sofas and chairs, plastic, carpet, carpet pad, iron, or materials that should go to the landfill. These items seem to be a growing problem, and will lead to restricted times or days, temporary closure, or permanent closure.

Come on, people. Read the sign and play by the rules, or we will all be out of a place to dump our brush. I am sure most of the community has acted responsibly in their use of the burn pile. It is only a few who have, and are abusing it. This also applies to the recycle bins in town.

Lets all play by the rules and keep a good thing going.
