Monument, Dayville track excel

CONDON Dayville High School and Monument track and field athletes did well April 28 at the Bowerman Invitational at Condon.

The teams head into the High Desert League meet this Friday, May 4, at Harper, followed by the district meet Friday, May 11 at Baker City.
State competition concludes the season Friday and Saturday, May 18-19 at Western Oregon University in Monmouth.
At Condon, Dayvilles Jake Buce took first in the javelin.

He was 10th in the 100 meters, and set a personal record. Buce was also 10th in the shot put, and 17th in the 100 meters.
Josh Chapman took fourth in the pole vault.
Walker Powell was seventh in discus, while Colten Winters was 11th in javelin.
For the girls, Renee Inscore set a personal record in the javelin, for third place. She was also fifth in 200 meters, and ninth in the 100 meters.
Alix Perkins was fifth in the 1500, a personal record, and also in the pole vault.
Daryl Ann Waltenburg was seventh in discus.
For Monument, Treiquella Osborne took first in the long jump, and set a personal record with her third-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles. She also was third in high jump and fourth in discus.
Bianca Thomas set a personal record in the 3,000 meters, placing third.
Emily Dailey was eighth in long jump and 11th in triple jump.
Desiree Robison was 22nd in discus.
For the boys, Jamen Schafer, tied for third in the high jump and was fifth in long jump. He set two personal records with eighth-place finishes in the 100 meters and 300-meter hurdles.
Stephen Binger set a new record in the shot put, where he placed third. He was 11th in discus.
Wilson Dailey set new records in four events, his top being 10th in discus, and 12th in triple jump.
The athletes continue to improve, noted coach Earl Pettit. With one meet remaining before districts, they look to be peaking at the right time.
