New staff on council

LONG CREEK The North Fork John Day Watershed Council has hired two new project coordinators. They are:

Katie MacKendrick, from Missoula, Mont., where she directed a community-based nonprofit and developed projects including restoration, monitoring, and education. She has worked as a botanist monitoring and managing forest plant communities, cataloguing native species, and collecting seed, and holds a bachelors degree in natural resources from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a masters in community and regional planning from the University of Oregon.
She will work with the landowners in the North Fork John Day watershed.
Matt Brownlee, who has been a restoration project supervisor in Colorado, and also worked for the BLMs Great Basin Institute implementing the Resource Management Plan with an emphasis on special use permits, noxious weed eradication and habitat restoration. He has a bachelors degree from the Universtiy of Montana.

He will coordinate with federal lands managers in the basin.
