State and Grant County election update

SALEM In statewide election returns Tuesday night, presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney won the Oregon presidential primary.

He was leading in early returns with 73 percent of the vote, compared to 12 percent for Ron Paul, 9 percent for Rick Santorum, and 5 percent for Newt Gingrich.
In Grant County, the tally was 994 for Romney, 268 for Paul, 105 for Santorum, and 96 for Gingrich.
Incumbent President Barack Obama was the expected winner on the Democratic ballot in Oregon. Grant County residents gave him 349 of his votes.

In the 2nd Congressional district, Rep. Greg Walden cruised to the Republican nomination. He will face Joyce Segers, the Democratic pick, in November.
Walden drew 1,329 votes in Grant County, while Segers got 256 votes on the Demo side.
Among the state races, Ellen Rosenblum defeated fellow Democrat Dwight Holton in the race for attorney general.
Voters again backed state Sen. Ted Ferrioli (R-District 30) and state Rep. Cliff Bentz (R-District 60), both unopposed for their positions.
