Slideshow: Track and Field Championships

MONMOUTH Three Grant County track and field athletes ascended to the top of the podium at the May 18-19 Oregon State Activities Association track and field championships.

From 1A-sized school, Prairie City, Cole Hoberg set a school record and topped 3A, 2A and 1A athletes May 19 with his 6-07 mark.

Grant Unions Trent Sohr gained the championship of the high jump for 3A sized schools.

And in a second year of battle, Dayville High Schools Justin Larson edged out competitor and friend, Prairie Citys Brady Doty, for championship of the 1A javelin competition, setting a new record of 201 feet, 8 inches.

Monument High Schools Treiquella Osborne represented her school well in three events.

Other competitors from Grant County were Prairie Citys Bob Heersping, Kieley Williams and Kailey Kell, Grant Unions Desiree Kodesh, Nick Wilson, Mary Roy and Taylor Smith, and Dayvilles Josh Chapman.
