Crews contain Long Draw Fire in SE Oregon

JORDAN VALLEY The Long Draw Fire, which scorched 582,213 acres in Oregon and Nevada, was reported to be fully contained Monday.

Jeff Pendleton, the incident commander for the Pacific Northwest fire management team in charge, expressed his appreciation to the firefighters, community members, and dozens of support personnel who assisted at the fire.

About 120 firefighters remain on scene to to help implement an extensive rehabilitation plan for the suppression area. Over the coming week, they will build water bars, rake burms, repair fences, clean spike camps, contain weeds and return transportation routes to a pre-fire conditions as possible.

A local fire management team, commanded by Matt White, is expected to take over the fire effort Tuesday morning.
