Families First Parent Resource Center surveyed community members, parents and youth in Grant County the past two years on the 40 Developmental Assets necessary for healthy child development as identified by Search Institute.

The participants responded on which of the assets they themselves had, or for adults, which ones they provided for children.

Heres a sampling of the results:

Top three assets that youth reported having:

My parents and teachers encourage me to do well. 93 percent

I feel loved and supported in my family. 92 percent

I believe that its important to help other people. 90 percent

Top three assets that parents report providing:

I model positive, responsible behavior, and so do other adults in my childs life. 96 percent

My child can come to me for advice and support. We talk often. 91 percent

I give my child a lot of love and support. 91 percent

Top three assets community members report providing:

I encourage children to do well in school. 83 percent

I teach children to tell the truth, even when its not easy. 83 percent
