James Donald Hancock

James Donald Hancock, 60, of John Day, died Nov. 30 at his residence. A graveside memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at Canyon City Cemetery, with the Rev. Eric Bortell of the First Baptist Church officiating.

Mr. Hancock was born April 1, 1952, in John Day, to James Paul and Donna Joan (McIntyre) Hancock. He graduated from Grant Union High School in 1970, and attended the National School of Conservation.
His favorite hobbies included hunting of any species, playing occasional video games, and watching football games and NASCAR races. He enjoyed attending a race in North Carolina. He especially enjoyed competing in bass fishing tournaments, in which he was quite successful.
He liked to spend time with his grandchildren and family.

Survivors include his sons, James and Steve Hancock of John Day; daughters, Julianne Hanson of Canyon City and Marianne Elliott of Bend; his mother, Donna Hancock of John Day; and sister, Peggy Molnar of John Day.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Paul Hancock.
