Hunter education classes coming up next week

JOHN DAY A new series of hunter education classes is set to start up next week in Grant County.

The first class will be at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18, in the Grant Union High School library, and might run as long as two-and-a-half hours. Successive classes will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, Feb. 20 and 21, and Monday, Wednesday and Thursday the following week, Feb. 25, 26 and 28.

The cost is $10 per student, a fee which can be waived in some cases.

No one under 18 may hunt wildlife except on their own land without successfully completing the course. All ages planning to hunt as nonresidents may be required to have a Hunter Education Card.

Those interested can pre-enroll at Nydams Ace Hardware, True Value Hardware, the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife office, or any other ODF&W license sales outlet.
