Each lunch is followed by worship at 12:15 p.m. Donations are welcome and used at the host churchs discretion.

Thursday, Feb. 28

John Day streetscape open house

6 p.m., Outpost Restaurant, John Day

The City of John Day and the Oregon Department of Transportation will hold an open house to discuss the sidewalk and beautification project planned through John Day. Officials will provide information and listen to comments regarding the project, which is in the design phase this year. Construction is planned in 2014. Friday, March 1

Humbolt Elementary Carnival

5-8 p.m., Humbolt Elementary gym, Canyon City

The Humbolt PTA will hold a carnival for Humbolt students and their families and friends. The cost is $4 a person or $10 for a family (up to three children) for unlimited games, popcorn, cotton candy and a chance at the cakewalk. There will be a concession stand with food for sale. Saturday, March 2

River Loop Ranch Run and Bike

9 a.m., River Road, east of Prairie City

Runners, walkers and cyclists of all ages are welcome to participate in the 5K and half-marathon. The cost is $10 for those 18 and younger, $25 for ages 19 and older, and $40 per family. Registration packets will be at Humbolt Elementary gym 5-8 p.m., Friday, March 1, or the day of the race, 7:45-8:40 a.m., at the finish line, three miles east of Prairie City, 1.2 miles on N. River Road. Bus transportation will be available to and from Grant Union Junior-Senior High School. Proceeds support Humbolt Elementarys artist-in-residence program. Farm Bureau annual meeting

3-5 p.m., Outpost Restaurant, John Day

The Grant County Farm Bureau will hold its annual meeting. Speakers include Oregon Farm Bureau president and American Farm Bureau vice-president Barry Bushue, who will provide updates and answer questions on current state and national issues affecting producers. There will be a roundtable discussion and officer elections, including the selection of a new GCFB president. All are welcome to attend. A hosted pizza dinner will follow the meeting. Almost Spring Bazaar

9 a.m.-4 p.m., Keerins Hall, Grant County Fairgrounds

Shoppers will find a variety of goods such as crafts, collectibles, art, yard sale treasures and jewelry at the bazaar. Admission is free. Held in conjunction with the Strawberry Mountain Gun and Knife Show in the Pavilion. For vendors, 6-foot tables are $35, plus $5 for electricity. Call the fair office, 541-575-1900, for information or to reserve a table.

Saturday-Sunday, March 9-10

Strawberry Mountain Gun and Knife Show

9 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday; 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Sunday; Grant County Fairgrounds Pavilion

People can buy, sell or trade such goods as guns, knives, camping and hunting equipment, and archery supplies. Daily admission is $4 for adults, and $2 for youth ages 7-18. Admission for children 6 and under is one can of food. Attendees will be entered in a drawing for gun-related merchandise. Held in conjunction with the Almost Spring Bazaar, Saturday, in Keerins Hall. Call the fair office, 541-575-1900.

Moms Time Out

10 a.m.-noon, Families First, John Day

Moms are invited to learn how to deal with stress, enjoy a relaxing facial with natural, homemade ingredients and aromatherapy, and a light lunch of peach tortellini salad and dessert. There will be no child care. Reserve a spot by calling Families First Parent Resource Center at 541-575-1006.

Grant Union Grad Night Committee meeting
