John Clayton Morris, 70, of Prairie City, died March 5 at Blue Mountain Hospital in John Day. A funeral service was held March 16 at the Assembly of God Church in Prairie City, with interment at Prairie City Cemetery.
Mr. Morris was born Oct. 28, 1942, in Greybull, Wyo., to Rolly Craig and Rita Eleanora (McLaughlin) Morris. He attended Eureka High School in Eureka, Calif.
He married twice, to Mary Anne Kyle and Edith (Crawford) Summers. Both marriages ended in divorce.
He worked as an irrigator, real estate agent, salesman, logger and commercial fisherman.
He enjoyed music, playing guitar, writing songs and poetry, and singing. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, a campaign manager for Ross Perot, co-founder of United We Stand America and was affiliated with the Special Olympics in Casper, Wyo.
Survivors include his sisters, Barbara C. Lewis of Prairie City and R. Anne Morris of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and his brothers, David L. Morris of Casper and William C. Morris of Kevin, Mont.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen E. Gamble.
