JOHN DAY HECS LLC, maker of concealment wetsuits and outdoors gear, has received its fifth patent from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for its Stealthscreen technology.

Mike Slinkard, president of HECS, said that receiving multiple patents is a reaffirmation of the relevance of the hunting clothing technology pioneered by the John Day firm he founded.

The patents relate to processes for blocking human electric signals on land or in the water, for use when hunting or observing wildlife, handling animals, and even human adversarial situations.

Slinkard said the technology has benefits for hunters, wildlife researchers, divers and photographers.

All living things, including humans, emit faint electric signals and many animals are able to detect and react to these signals, he said. HECS Stealthscreen reduces the human electric signal, allowing you to get closer to animals in their natural, undisturbed state.

HECS material is made of woven conductive carbon fibers, designed to reduce the bodys electric signal while offering high standards of comfort and performance.

The HECS technology is endorsed by the Pelagic Shark Research Foundation in Santa Cruz, Calif., and Xcel wetsuit brand has added the Stealthscreen full suits to its range of premium products.

The HECS clothing also won a reader poll for Gear of the Year in Bowhunt America magazine.

Slinkard calls the material yet another tool for hunters and wildlife enthusiasts.

You still have to exercise all the same hunting skills and tactics that have proven effective in the past; however, HECS adds another significant edge that can help us be more successful and have more enjoyable outdoor experiences, he said.
