Cycle Oregon

More than 2,000 riders will Saddle Up, as the theme says, for Cycle Oregons 2013 this September.

The route takes a loop that starts and stops in John Day, giving riders a chance to experience the fantastic scenery and hospitality of Grant County and parts south.

This years ride is Sept. 7-14, and riders will use John Day as a base camp for the first two nights. The Day 1 ride takes a spin into the Strawberry Mountains, over to Summit Prairie and Logan Valley before returning home. Day 2 takes riders south from John Day to Burns; from there the ride continues to the shadow of the Steens Mountain, the open spaces of Crane and Diamond, and back through Seneca to John Day.

Along the way, community groups will be ready to welcome the riders with the friendly small-town spirit that is a trademark of the region.
