Activities include organized tours to selected attractions, tech sessions, seminars, door prizes, awards and entertainment. Preregistration is $40 for BMW Riders of Oregon members, or $50 for others. Barbecue pool party for moms and sons

Boys in grades kindergarten-six, and their moms or mom figures, can enjoy a pool party and barbecue, with games, hamburgers and hot dogs, and more. The cost is $20 for those in the John Day/Canyon City Parks and Rec District, and $25 for all others. Registration is limited to the first 50 who sign up. John Day Farmers Market Spring Festival

8:30 a.m.-noon, S.W. Brent Street, John Day

The 2013 Market season opens with a Spring Festival, featuring a variety of vendors selling locally produced food and crafts. Other weekly activities may include childrens crafts, music, food and recipe samples, plants for sale and drawings. Some of the produce vendors accept Women, Infants and Children checks; Fruit and Veggie Vouchers; and Farm Direct Nutrition Program checks, and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits. Sixth annual Family Fun Day

11 a.m.-3 p.m., John Day City Park

Free activities include a petting zoo; arts, crafts and activity booths; and Gleason Pool open to all for free. Kids will also be able to exchange bike helmets or purchase new ones for only $6. Several inflatables a bounce house, gladiator joust game and waterslide plus Gaga Ball and train ride will also be available for $5 a person for all-day fun. Hotdogs and hamburgers will be for sale for $1 each, and there will be free snocones all day. Sponsors of the event include the John and Linda Shelk Foundation, John Day Elks Lodge, CenturyLink, Bank of Eastern Oregon, Blue Mountain Hospital and Surgery Clinic, Strawberry Wilderness Community Clinic, and Old West Federal Credit Union. Benefit chili feed, silent auction for Micheal Teel

5-7 p.m., Strawberry Grange Hall, Prairie City

Proceeds will help with medical and travel expenses for Micheal Teel, who has three tumors and is undergoing treatment at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland for melanoma. The dinner of chili, cornbread and drinks is by donation. Silent auction items include gift baskets, a five-shelf grow house donated by John Day True Value and a bird whimsey thermometer donated by Nydams Ace Hardware. There will also be a live dessert auction. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5. A cord of wood will be raffled separately.
