JOHN DAY There was something for everyone at the June 21 Grant County Health Fair.
The line for blood draws ebbed and flowed with a total of 570 for the day.
Visitors also had 35 educational booths to check out.
One popular new booth was a concession stand run by a youth sports group, offering juice, coffee, muffins and other snacks which those fasting for blood draws said they appreciated.
Other new booths included Kyle Clines Chinese medicine; dentist Norm DeJong, showing the connection between the mouth and body; and a St. Charles Medical Center orthopedic nurse navigator with information on osteoporosis.
With the health fair since its start, Dr. Larry Weber of Bend Dermatology returned again with many lined up for skin screenings.
There also were free anemia and oxygen saturation tests from Grant County Health Department, as well as screenings from podiatrists Dr. Trent Corpron and Dr. Andrew Black of St. Alphonsis Medical Group in Ontario and a chiropractor Jeremy Boethin of Bends Lifestyle Chiropractic.
Other offerings included education on MRSA, illegal drugs, Grant County Search and Rescue, Doernbecher Childrens Hospital; free shoulder and neck massages from Lindsay Whitaker of Last Resort Salon in Baker City, and much more.
Health Fair coordinator Danetta Lewis said results for blood draws are expected early next week.
The fair is sponsored by the Health Department, Malheur National Forest, Blue Mountain Hospital, and Blue Mountain Hospital Auxiliary.
