Hunting season is sneaking up – have you taken hunter safety?

JOHN DAY With the fall hunting season just around the corner, its time for hunter education classes. Locally, classes begin Monday, July 8, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in John Day.
The classes will be held Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings for two weeks. Classes start at 6:30 p.m. and last two and a half hours, except on the first day when sign-ups begin at 6 p.m.
The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife has set a fee of $10 per student, but the fee may be waived in some circumstances. Participants can preregister at Ace Hardware, True Value Hardware, the local ODFW office or ODFW sales outlets. For more information, call Bryan Nelson at 541-575-1808, or ODFW, 541-575-1167.
