4-H members gather to present awards

SENECA Local 4-H leaders and youth members gathered at Seneca School Oct. 17 for the 2013 Grant County 4-H Achievement Night.
Dennis and Julie Reynolds and Chesters Thriftway received distinguished service awards, which recognize businesses, organizations or individuals for their generous support of the local 4-H program.
Leaders and members receiving year seals and pins were Julie Reynolds, 39 years; Dennis Reynolds, 38 years; Margaret Lemons, 29 years; and Jan Bauer and Gary Adams, 27 years for each.
Record book champions for each level were: seniors, Hannah Deming, champion, and Hannah Brandsma, reserve champion; intermediate, Jay Goldblatt, champion, and Serena Pace, reserve champion; and juniors, Cinch Anderson and Danielle Goldblatt, co-champions.
Members who received special county awards for outstanding work were: Parker Manitsas, junior citizenship; Lauryn Amick and Trinity Hutchison, junior 4-H members; Jay Goldblatt, intermediate home ec/expressive arts member; Jessica Carter, intermediate livestock member; Bayley Deming and Jessica Carter, intermediate 4-H members; Hannah Deming, senior home ec/expressive arts member; Hannah Brandmsa, senior livestock member and leadership member; and Samantha Snyder and Hannah Deming, senior citizenship member.
The top overall herdsmanship awards went to Prairie City Community Club, first place; Strawberry Riders Etc., second place; and Baldy Mountain Club, third place.
The enrollment for the 2013-2014 year began Oct. 1. The deadline to enroll in 4-H market animals is March 17, 2014. The deadline to enroll in other projects is June 2, 2014. Leaders and members must re-enroll each year.
