Georgia Patterson, retiring Prairie City Public Works director, has stand-by cake-cutting help on Dec. 2 from new Public Works Director Chris Camarena, left, and maintenance worker Ray Wenger. The event doubled as her birthday party, featuring two cakes and an array of refreshments. Patterson, who has worked for Prairie City for 25 years, was director the past six years. Her husband Steve, now retired himself, also worked for the town years ago. Her retirement plans include oil painting and riding horses.
