CANYON CITY The Grant County Court will hold its main business meeting at night this Wednesday, rather than the customary morning session.

The meeting starts at 6 p.m. at the Courthouse.

The agenda will include a presentation by Dick Haines, founder of New Hope for Eastern Oregon Animals, and representatives of a group interested in forming a Grant County chapter of the organization to help deal with pet issues.

Commissioner Chris Labhart said holding an evening meeting would be more convenient for the group, and for members of the public who want to attend.

Also on the agenda is a letter drafted by Commissioner Boyd Britton to the U.S. Board on Geographic Names concerning the renaming of squaw-named features in the county.
