REDDING, Calif. Dorothy Mae Walker Breedlove, 90, formerly of John Day, died Dec. 3 in Redding, Calif. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at McDonalds Funeral Home in Redding. A graveside service will follow at about 12:30 p.m. at Lawncrest Memorial Park in Redding.
Mrs. Breedlove was born Feb. 16, 1923, in John Day. There she met and married her husband Merlin. Together they traveled the world, living in the Philippines, Nigeria, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan and Columbia. They returned home and retired to be with family and friends.
She was known for her handmade pastries and holiday goodies that she spent countless hours making and sharing with family and friends. She was kind, caring, self-sacrificing and compassionate.
She loved animals and had an appreciation for the beauty of creation.
Survivors include her sons, Gary (Jan), Joe (Jacqueline) and Dick (Lori); grandchildren, Jeff and Patty, Kenny and Ashley, Branden, Shannon and Chad; three great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; adopted members to the family; and countless friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Merlin.
Arrangements are under the care of McDonalds Funeral Home of Redding.
