JOHN DAY In its 20th year, the Timber Truckers Light Parade is set to light up the night this Saturday, Dec. 14, in John Day.

This years event, with Wishing for Healthy Forests, Healthy Future as the theme, starts at 6 p.m.

The route will be the same as in past years, rolling east from Grant Western Lumber on Main Street to the John Day Elks Lodge.

An awards ceremony with a by-donation dinner, open to the public, will follow the parade at Elks Lodge.

Organizers depend on support from the community to ensure the popular events return each year. People may donate items or business gift certificates, or make monetary contributions to be used to buy prizes and defray costs.

Donations may be dropped off at Bank of Eastern Oregon or Les Schwab Tire Center in John Day. Cash donations and gift certificates may be mailed to Leslie Traylor, 624 N.W. Bridge St., John Day, OR 97845.

Entries are still being accepted; the fee is $10. For more information, contact Mary Ellen Brooks, 541-932-4540, Leslie Traylor, 541-620-4032, Jody Moulton, 541-575-1346, or Brenda Mosier, 541-575-0786.
