Circuit Court
CANYON CITY The Grant County Circuit Court reported the following fines and judgments:
Terry Lee Craig, 47, was found guilty by jury verdict of driving under the influence of intoxicants. He was sentenced to jail for 90 days, supervised probation for 36 months, 100 hours community service to be completed by March 1, 10 p.m.-6 a.m. curfew, and fined $2,250. His drivers license was suspended for life. He pleaded guilty to criminal driving while suspended or revoked, and was sentenced to supervised probation for 36 months, 40 hours community service to be completed by March 1, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. curfew, and fined $1,000. He pleaded guilty to refusal to take a test for intoxicants, and was fined $650.
Oregon State Police
At 9:35 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25, Oregon State Police arrested Jose L. Escobedo, 31, for DUII-drugs, and transported him to Grant County Jail. About half an ounce of marijuana and drug paraphernalia were seized.
At 4:48 p.m. Nov. 25, troopers responded to a vehicle v. deer crash on Highway 26 at Ritter Butte Summit.
At 9:36 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, OSP arrested Benjamin Lee Keith, 33, of Burns, on an outstanding Grant County warrant, and cited him for driving while suspended, driving uninsured and making an unsignaled turn.
At 10 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 28, OSP responded to a reported vehicle crash on Highway 395 near the Long Creek Summit rest area. The driver, Thomas Hogan, 61, was driving north when his vehicle went out of control on a curve. He was uninjured.
About 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, OSP responded to a reported single-vehicle crash on Highway 395 north of Long Creek Summit. The driver, Kolton Ray Collins, 19, was cited for careless driving, driving while suspended and driving uninsured.
At 7 p.m. Dec. 1, troopers arrested Trevor Charles Smith, 24, Hines, for DUII, on Highway 395 north of Mt. Vernon. He was lodged in Grant County Jail.
On Dec. 2, OSP cited Dustin A. Knight, 29, for making an illegal U-turn, after his loaded log truck jackknifed on Highway 26 west of John Day, blocking both lanes of travel for about 30 minutes.
At 1:53 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, OSP responded to a single-vehicle crash on State Route 7, north of Austin Junction. The driver, William Mathew Curry Jr., 38, of Eugene, lost control of his vehicle on the icy roadway, and it slid side to side and into the ditch, landing right side up. He was uninjured.

David Haynes, 33, John Day, cited for driving while suspended, and failure to carry proof of insurance and registration.
Dispatch
John Day dispatch worked 163 calls during the week of Dec. 2-8. Along with the various traffic warnings, trespassing, injured animals, noise complaints and juvenile complaints, these calls included:

Dec. 6: Report of a prowler and someone breaking windows.
Dec. 7: Cited a North Bend man for driving while suspended, driving without insurance and expired registration.
Grant County Sheriff:
Dec. 3: Theft of service in the Miller Mountain area.
Dec. 6: Reported hit-and-run at Grant Union High School; reported hit-and-run on Patterson Drive.
John Day ambulance:
Dec. 4: Responded for a 77-year-old woman with a diabetic problem; dispatched for a man with a heart problem.

Exceeding maximum weight limit: Mark Jared McElligott, 31, Ione, (offense date Oct. 22, 2013), fined $300.
Violation of the basic rule: Jason Lee Wonderly, 26, Oregon City, 50/35 zone, fined $160; Katherine Jane Cook, 25, Denver, Colo., 74/55 zone, fined $160; Gloria J. Maupin, 47, Crane, 76/55 zone, fined $160; Loren Eugene Bebb, 60, Prairie City, 70/55 zone, fined $160.
