JOHN DAY Shoppers shopped, browsed and caught up with neighbors in the Grant County Fairgrounds annual bazaar double-bill this month.

The Dec. 7 festivities included the Blue Mountain Hospital Auxiliary Bazaar in the Pavilion and the Fairgrounds holiday bazaar in Keerins Hall, plus an extra: the Festival of Trees fund-raiser.

Fairgrounds manager Mary Weaver said the events were a success. More than 500 people went through the doors to check out the vendor booths featuring gift items, holiday decorations, baked goods, arts and crafts and more.

Kailey Neal, organizer of the Festival of Trees, said the silent auction of decorated trees and gift baskets raised more than $3,000 to help those in need in the county. The proceeds went to the Healthy Smiles, Tree of Joy, and CASA programs in Grant County.
