William Francis Warner

William Francis Warner, 85, of Canyon City, died Dec. 18 at Blue Mountain Care Center in Prairie City. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23, at Driskill Memorial Chapel. Pastor Al Altnow of First Christian Church in John Day will officiate.
Mr. Warner was born Jan. 18, 1928, in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho, to Dewey Warner and Naomi (Evans) Warner.
In 1954, he married Helen Sharp in Winnemucca, Nev.
He attended Albion College in Salt Lake City, where he received a masters degree in education. He service in the U.S. Army for two years, reaching the rank of sergeant. He then taught at John Day Grade School, before switching to a career as a lumber grader. He worked at the mill in Seneca for almost 20 years, retiring in 1992.
His hobbies included hunting and gardening.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Warner of Canyon City; sons, Dewey (Brenda) Warner of Las Vegas, Robert Warner of Troutdale and William Warner of Canyon City; and two grandchildren.
