Oregon State Police

At about 8:50 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, Oregon State Police responded to a commercial semi truck crash on Highway 395 near Vance Creek Road. The driver, Allen Odell Cowley, 32, lost control on the icy road, while negotiating a curve.

At 10:10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 23, OSP arrested Kenneth Taylor III on an outstanding Grant County felony warrant for possession of methamphetamine. He was lodged in Grant County Jail.

CANYON CITY The Grant County Sheriffs Office reported the following for the week of Dec. 20-26:

John Day dispatch worked 129 calls during the week of Dec. 23-29. Along with the various traffic warnings, trespassing, injured animals, noise complaints and juvenile complaints, these calls included:

John Day Police:

Dec. 23: Arrested a John Day man for second-degree burglary and theft; arrested a Kennewick, Wash., woman for disorderly conduct; arrested two Washington state men for disorderly conduct and one for criminal mischief.

Dec. 25: Reported burglary in the 700 block of West Main Street.

Dec. 26: Arrested a John Day man on a Baker County warrant.

Dec. 29: Received information about vandalism at John Day City Park.

Prairie City ambulance:

Dec. 24: Dispatched for a man low on oxygen.

Dec. 28: Responded for an 88-year-old man with injured legs.

John Day ambulance:

Dec. 23: Dispatched for a 94-year-old woman with difficulty breathing.

Dec. 25: Assisted a 66-year-old man who fell; dispatched for a woman with left leg numbness and pain.

Dec. 27: Dispatched for a woman who fell.

Long Creek ambulance:

Dec. 25: Paged for someone with a possible heart attack.

Small Claims

Jim Carpenter, P.C. v. Catrina Gabbard and Donald Gabbard. Money judgment for $359.90 was awarded to Jim Carpenter, P.C.

The Floor Store v. Tom Houpt and Vanessa Houpt. Money judgment for $2,602.01 was awarded to The Floor Store.
