Long Creek Public School report for the quarter ending Dec. 29, 1893: Resident pupils enrolled: 92; nonresident pupils: 30; average daily attendance: 87; cases of tardiness: 65; visits made by the directors: 2. The pupils have been quite regular in attendance, the highest daily average for one week being 106. Our motto is Hard work and thorough education. Long Creek Eagle

Thursday, Jan. 24, 1924

Colonial life will be portrayed in a four act play, A Rose of Plymouth Town, Jan. 25, at city hall, by the Prairie City High School senior class. All players will be fully costumed with colonial dress from the breastplate for the soldier to the big buckled shoe. It is the high schools first literary production of the year. 60 years ago

Fifteen cash prizes totaling $200 were awarded to John Day winners in the Christmas home decorating contest sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce. The grand prize of $35 was awarded to Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Organ. Winners of two $25 prizes were Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Ogilvie, and Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Badley. Blue Mountain Eagle

The Grant Union Prospectors were runners-up last week in a girls basketball tournament played here Dec. 28-29. The Lady Prospectors fell to Burns, 37-35, in the championship game, after beating La Grande, 39-36, in the opening round.
