Larry Wayne Bradford

Larry Wayne Bradford, 77, died March 11 at his Canyon City home. A memorial service was held March 17 at Grace Chapel in Prairie City.

Mr. Bradford was born May 14 in Prairie City to Cecil and Leeta (Hammontree) Bradford. He graduated from Prairie City High School in 1956. On Dec. 13, 1959, in Harper, he married Peggy Schultz, with whom he had three children.

He served in the U.S. Army, ranked as private first class, in the Korean War. His employment included hardware store, self-employment, Edward Hines Lumber, the Bates mill, and timber inductor. He retired from Prairie Wood Products in 1999, after 15 years.

Among his accomplishments were raising three children, Good Conduct Medal from the Army, volunteering with the fire department, and ranching in Dallas. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and remodeling homes.

He loved to spend time with his grandchildren, taking vacations to the coast, camping trips, and helping family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy; son, Roy (Sue) of Dallas; daughters, Teresa (Frank) Dowell of Benson, Ariz., and Tammy (Doug) Reed of Canyon City; sister, Lolita (Richard) Grace of Veneta; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
